Ryan Graeff will be creating large-scale installations on-site for this exhibit. The Hit+Run Crew will do live screen printing at the opening reception. This event will be an issue release party for Restitution Press’s issue #17. The new book also features work by Abcnt1, Cryptik, Kutmah, Mike C, Emmanuel Coto, and John Carr.
Ryan is a Los Angeles-based painter, illustrator, and screen printer best known for his iconic wheat-pasted “Bandit”, which can be seen all over the city of L.A.
Ryan started his career early as a child slave at Big Brother magazine in 1995, an easy place to transform his passion from skateboarding to graffiti. Inspired by the art of getting up, Ryan challenged himself every day to draw and take trips far into unknown parts of the city. In 2005, using newsprint and bucket paint, Ryan started The Restitution Press, a zine with a unique style that soon spread like wildfire through Los Angeles. A collection of illustrators, graphic designers, and photographers, The Restitution Press became a documentation of the ever-evolving face of Los Angeles street art. With 17 volumes to date, the zine has increased in complexity and popularity. The newest, "How to Run L.A.", combines imagery from local street artists and iconic landmarks from the new LA Marathon route, "Stadium to the Sea".
Southern California artists Brandy Flower and Mike Crivello created HIT+RUN in 2005. A product of the contagious enthusiasm they had witnessed at small silk-screening parties in their homes, HIT+RUN’s live T-shirt screen-printing events quickly grew. The CREW now host music festivals and a variety of happenings around the world. At each HIT+RUN event Flower and Crivello act as curators, selecting from their network of artists a collection of exclusive single-color silk-screen designs. Guests personally create their own combination and placement of graphics, each solely available during the single night exhibitions. Partygoers interact in the screen-printing process with HIT+RUN CREW to create one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art Additional Link: therestitutionpress.com/
